October Newsletter

Hi Everyone,

Firstly I would like to say that all our children have settled in really well and back to Chandler’s nicely. My first half term as manager has gone well for me and with the good team and staff I have behind me I’m sure we’re going to have many more good years.

Our “All About Me” topic this term went very well, thank you to all parents for the family trees this helped us no end and the children have communicated with us talking about their families. We have also covered parts of the body and spoke about different cultures, not forgetting covering Diwali and making salt dough candles.

Our McMillan’s morning was a great success and all parents/carers that came seemed to enjoy their morning. We will organise another one next year and open it up on Tuesday and Wednesday morning so more people can attend. We raised £109 which was great, thank you all very much for your contributions.

Our next topic is obviously “Christmas” but with Halloween, Firework Night and Remembrance Sunday on the way we will also be covering these. If anyone has any objections to any of these things please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please keep encouraging your child to bring in something for our “Colour Table” and remind them of the shape we’re covering. We are constantly working with numbers 1-10, colours and shapes, this again is very important.

We also remind the children constantly of our rules and these need to be reinforced at home if possible please:

  • Kind Hands
  • Our hands and feet belong to ourselves
  • Nice walking in the playroom
  • Please & Thank you
  • Sorry if they have upset anyone

Staff are asking me to remind parents that we send blue/red books out once a week. Please may we have some feedback as we would like to know what the children have been doing and this is another way we can communicate with the children about their home life. We would also like to ask that all coats and bags are labelled so nobody goes home with the wrong items. If your contact details have changed please can you let us know at your earliest convenience. Reports for 2 year olds will be given out the first week back, if you have any problems please talk with your child’s keyworker or myself and we will be happy to help.

Please remember if your child is going to school in September 2018 you need to register them for their school online by Monday 15th January 2018. For further information and details of how to apply please visit www.havering.gov.uk/admissions.
